Made up of some 17,000 islands, the people of Indonesia are
known for being very friendly, polite, patient and hospitable.It is a common habit among the Indonesia families to eat
sitting on a woven mat, they usually use their fingers to dip food into the
rice. As funny as it may sound, according to an article in AWAKE, the Indonesians believe that eating food this way tastes
better.
The Indonesians love art, dance and music. A typical
instrument that the Indonesians use to play music is the ANKLONG; this
instrument consists of bamboo pipes that are loosely placed into frame. When
the pipes are tuned they produce a particular chord when rattled. Playing a
beautiful tune has to be a combination of number of players who must cooperate,
with each one of them shaking his/her ANKLONG instrument at the right time.
Indonesia is populated with people from different religion.
Before the 15th century, this land is populated by the hindus and
then the Buddhist. Islam then gains popularity in the Indonesia culture in 16th
century. Christendom came to this land when the Europeans who were seeking
spices came in the 16th century.
Indonesia is also rich in nature, for example it has some
20,000 species of plant and it is also have the record of holding the world’s
greatest variety of mammals. The world’s largest flower is also found in
Indonesia with 91 centimeters in diameter and it is also home to the world’s
tallest flower about three meters high.
